What can you expect from this new app from Disney? First of all, it clearly draws lots of inspiration from the Zoo Tycoon series - You get a patch of exotic, safari grounds and it is up to you to make this into a garden of Eden for your animals. The game also features the typical Disney-style click and point adventure aspects, with lots of dialogues, lively characters and short games of search in which you find specific items to earn reputation points. These reputation points can also be raised by bringing animals into your resort and building trees, plants and other kind of environmental things for your wildlife. The features this game gives you is really quite amazing - You can even edit your resort with beautiful water. You can put flamingo's in these. Also, it is not only possible to purchase grown animals, if you want, you can buy baby giraffes, etc. The first half hour the app gives you everything you need, you can immediately select new and buy new animals and before you know it you got the place running.
The game gives its players the possibility to buy gold staves with real money, these can then be used to purchase very unique and special animals and decorations for your resort.
With just an hour of playing you can already gain up to 20 gold staves. Really nice! After that, sadly, the game gets quite repetitive and the quests you can complete just seem to lose their charm. Also, since it's Disney, the app is supposed to be focused on kids. I can't imagine kids fully understanding all the different aspects, so I guess that's a flaw.In the end Disney Animal Kingdom is a very innovative application that gives you lots of freedom to design the place the way you want. If you like safari themes and loved the Zoo Tycoon games, you really don't want to miss this one.
