Journey to Egypt is really one of those games that can't be defined by just one genre alone. The game is obviously a platformer, but also contains many aspects from traditional role-playing games and more brawler, hack 'n slash oriented games. In Journey to Egypt you play as the so-called "Saint Girl" who's destiny it is to put an end to the corruption of the Egyptian Chaos God. Along the way you'll encounter many fearsome monsters and some tough boss battles. But the main question remains -- Is the game any fun at all?

The first thing that dawned on me when I played the game was the immense size of the buttons, not only this, though -- The interface looked smudged, chaotic and most of all unpleasant. You see, you can actually perform a lot of skills and actions with your character. You can jump endlessly, meaning you have full control and excellent mobility, you can charge attacks and unleash them on multiple foes and there's also the dash buttons with function for a few quick steps to the left or right. I soon found out that there's no hacks or cheats needed for this game fore you get all the freedom with your character that you'll need.

It took some time to get used to the controls, but once I was settled this game actually has proven to be quite awesome. The game mechanics are very fluid, the battle animations look really terrific and you really get that feeling that you are on the front lines fighting these monsters. The boss battles are cleverly thought out as well as the artificial intelligence of these bosses. Once you get to a town you'll have access to a blacksmith, where you can use the items you've collected from monsters to create weapons and upgrade them. There's even elemental aspects to these weapons that can be added for extra skills. Stone elements will give you a protective barrier, wind blades will imbue you with powerful ranged attacks and so on. Go give this game a try if you're into platforming or RPG games.
