"Bloo Kid is a great spin on classic, retro arcade apps for Android and Apple."
Another review, this time about Bloo Kid - A one-screen arcade, platform game that draws much of its inspiration from the old time classic Bubble Bobble. You know, with the little dinosaur..
In Bloo Kid you play as a pixelated dude with blue hair, trying to save his girlfriend from the clutches of evil. With nearly a hundred levels, free updates planned for the future and multiple stars to collect - You can waste quite some time with this nifty little app.
Bloo Kid!
The gameplay has lots in common with Bubble Bobble, a level exist of one-screen only in which you have to defeat waves of monsters. If you manage to defeat all monsters, you complete the level and progress to the next one. The game features seven different worlds, each with a challenging boss for you to pound on. In each level you can gain up to three stars. One for simply completing it, one for completing it flawless (without losing any hearts) and the special star which you can acquire by grabbing the star that appears after you've defeated all monsters. You have to be quick though, the star only stays for a couple of seconds.
You control your character with the on-screen touch buttons, two in the left for movement and one on the right for jumping. If you hold the jump button while landing on a monster, you float higher and are able to reach higher platforms. The monsters are simple slimes at the beginning - but soon transform in beasts with special powers and multiple lives. If you're looking for a challenging retro app, you should definitely give Bloo Kid a whirl.
