Lil' Kingdom is another app from the developers at GLU. I like many of their games and so Lil' Kingdom - Also being a very popular app - felt very promising. After spending a while in the game, I came to the sad conclusion that the game isn't all that much fun. Even though so, cuteness can definitely be expected.
In Lil' Kingdom you play as a jester, even though you won't move him around at all. You get your own castle, including your very own princess and a starting room for your dungeon. Because it's your job to change this boring little castle into a center of entertainment! You will do this by hammering down floors to build new rooms - Each with it specific interest. These range from bakeries to crafting shops and hotels to politics. Even though the rooms in the game might differ in style, there's almost nothing that actually makes an impact on the way you manage the rooms.
And here is where Lil' Kingdom gets boring. After building your tenth room you'll probably be putting this app away for a long time because there's simply nothing new to do. By opening the door for visitors and bringing them to their designated floor with an elevator you can assign them to a room or workplace. Here you tap yourself through some menus and done is your part of the day. It's really sad to see an app with such cute graphics and amazing potential wasted.
Lil' Kingdom has a great soundtrack and some awesome gameplay elements, like doing quests for the princess and building hotels and workplaces. It just doesn't quite pack the punch the developers believed it would be. If you're willing to play a game for only ten minutes a day then Lil' Kingdom can be a great experience. If you're looking for a game with a bigger time-span, you're better off searching for another app for your phone.
